Merry Christmas 2006
Yesterday we hired a babysitter and joined our closest friends for our annual Montreal Christmas dinner. A few couldn't make it out but this year Stephane, Sarah(and lil' guy), Jennifer, Ali and Jasmine were there. Once again Ali found a restaurant for us (Cocagne) and the food was fantastic! We don't often go out to restaurants so it's nice to find spend a little extra once a year at a nice restaurant. Unfortunately we ran a little late and had to dash out before taking a picture of the gang. This year Ann decided to avoid the seafood and foie gras and avoid memoirs of 2005. Anyways- Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family who may be checking out our blog!
Smiley, speak no evil and speak no evil
The three kids hung out in my office while I worked.... no idea what the moms were doing.
LL and new haircut
The only way I could get LL to wear his mitts was to tell them that the line hemmed on it was a train track for Thomas. This Thomas is overtaking our lives.
LL and YiYi
For some reason I rarely have photos of LL and YiYi on the blog- maybe because they always end up dark and shadowy like this one.
Prep for cookie decorating
Potty training has gone very well and I think we're pretty much there. We've rewarded pees with stickers and poohs with letting LL watch a quick Thomas video on my computer. Just before Ali arrived for cookie making, LL had a successfull pooh after holding out for 2 days. Ginormous is the only way to descibe it. So we plopped him down on my chair to watch his video while we did some house chores. 30 seconds later LL was crying and when I came into my office he was standing next to the chair - "Pooh!"
A veritable mountain of pooh on my chair. That's the lucky chair catching some rays outside.

Cookiepalooza
Last week Ann kept LL home on Thursday and Friday to make cookies. Thursday morning Ali came over and the three of them made gingerbread cookies. Friday morning Chloe and Hypatia came over to make Jewish shortbread. Friday night LL's friends from garderie (Clara and Lily) came over (with Clara's family) to decorate the ginger bread. Decorating was fun- and LL especially liked the coloured sugar that Ali brought over. By the end of the night his face and hands were green and red and the floor was pretty gritty from all the sugar. It was a pretty late night for all the kids but they lasted without any major incidents. Saturday Sarah hosted a cookie exchange with goodies made by Ali, Sarah, and Mark.

santa claus
Sunday Ann was working all day so we went down to PDA together at 9:30 and made an appointment with Santa's personal secretary for 10:30. While Ann went off to work LL and I amused ourselves until it was time. LL was a bit hesitant to sit with Santa but after an hour of waiting he really wasn't given much choice. To his credit he didn't cry and did manage to tell Santa what he wanted for Xmas.

Box 2004-2006
Suddenly but peacefully on Sunday November 12, surrounded at home by family and friends. A loving package, playhouse, interpretive colouring pad, parking garage, hockey net and coat rack, "Box" is survived by mom, dad and LL. It has sat in a place of honour in our living room since we brought it home from Walmart. Recycling will be held on Wednesday November 15, usually around 7 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers.
ann the butcher
A couple of months ago Ann offered to help clean up the back of my head whie I was cutting my hair. Note the bald spot which has yet to grow back. For someone who depends on dexterous and agile fingers she sure is shaky with the clippers.
duck crossing
Halloween night- met up with our park friends and headed to Waverly for trick or treating. Waverly is one of those streets that people in the Mile End love going to and all the residents really get into it. Lucky for us it's only one block away. Top points go to a house on Groll which had its courtyard set up so that everyone had to wander through it and the maze of draped sheets. Thumbs down to the guy hiding behind the sheet who jumped out and scared the chocolate out of LL.

Halloween carving
Ali donated a pumpkin yesterday so tonight we attempted our first try at pumpkin carving. LL loved singing happy birthday to the pumpkin afterwards (since there was a candle inside). Happy Halloween!

Here are some photos I've copied from Fred, since most of my photos were pretty bad. Here are the boys waiting for our roast chicken sandwiches to be made at Serano's on St-Viateur.

buddies
We joined our friends from the park again for a nice Saturday morning in the apple orchards of Ille-Perrot, where we picked about 18 lbs of Empire apples and also purchased some pumpkin/chocolate chip cookie dough (yum). Luckily we headed west this morning and not up highway 19 as it collapsed around the same time we were heading home. Seems like everytime we turn on the CBC, Nancy Wood is reporting another disaster in Montreal.

carseat
This morning we went up to Mount Royal to walk in the Terry Fox run (have we mentioned that we love Terry Fox?). Anyways, we somehow managed to veer off course and didn't end up doing much walking, as LL was disctracted by a hill. Afterwards we rewarded ourselves for the hardwork with some free hot dogs. We have discovered that LL loves hotdogs.
man hands meets kindetoy
It was Walter's first birthday a couple of days ago, we missed the party- Ann started in a tennis league that night. Anyways we did manage to pick up a loot bag yesterday and LL opened up his first ever Kinder egg or whatever it is called.
sunset
Ann's been back to work for a couple of weeks now. The OSM was getting a lot of press with Nagano officially starting. On one of the first nights Ann was at work I took LL up to the roof to catch this. It's rapidly cooling down in Montreal- good bye summer.

goat
Yesterday we went to the Brome Fair- one of the oldest fairs in North America (has been running since the 1800's). The drive to the Eastern Townships took a little longer than expected but the cotton candy, poutine and buffalo chips made it totally worth it. Here are some pics...
