On Saturday we took the train to the Big Apple. Ann found a house swap on Craig's list so we did somewhat of a 3-way swap. It was my first time since I was 7? Anyways it was a great trip though brief. I had to head to Ottawa so we cut our trip short by a day. The train ride was loooong (about 12 hours) especially for LL. It didn't help that our car was full of crusties.

Williams Tsien
Sunday morning we headed to the American Folk Art Museum designed by Willams and Tsien. ( I think it was on 53rd Street). It was even nicer than I had imagined and only 9 dollars to enter. LL had fun running amok while I looked at drywall and concrete reveals.
D
We met with D after the museum and headed to a Japanese place for some home-style Japanese food (55th street between 5th and 6th Aves). It was yummy and the noodles did lots to warm us up. Afterwards they headed to a Amy's to see the new baby while I hung out at Barnes and Noble to avoid Amy's 4 (5?) cats. Afterwards we met up and headed to D's (near Harlem) for some good ol' Dominican roast chicken (only 12 dollars to feed the 4 of us!).
Boat
The people we swapped houses with had a friend who captained a sightseeing boat around Manhattan- so they got us on a 3 hour ride for free. It was a good way to get a feel of where the various neighbourhoods and boroughs were in relation to Manhattan. A good way to kill off a few more rainy hours too.
Steph
Monday night we caught up with Ann's friend from Chicago- had some pizza in the West Village then went for dessert at beard papa's (yummy custard filled puffs). Afterwards, we headed home and met up with Ann's cousin Jummy (sorry- forgot to take a photo).

Chinese dinner
Last week Ann's uncle, cousin (Nolan) and aunt came to Montreal for a brief visit so we made a rare visit to a chinese restaurant for dinner. On an unrelated note: yesterday, LL suddenly mastered how to use chopsticks and spent the night picking up green beans and eating them. Miracle.

Cap S.J.
LL has become quite good friends with a girl in the neighbourhood that we see at the park everyday. Last weekend we went to the farm with his friend and her family....I didn't know if her parents would approve of me posting photos of her on the internet- so here's LL. His friend is to his right.

schoolbus
Last week Ann saw that there were free shuttle busses from Chinatown to the Olympic Basin where the dragon boat races were. She figured it'd be a great way to appease LL's love of busses. So we hopped aboard thinking we'd ride there and back and be back in time for dim sum. Anyways the crusty bus driver said we weren't allowed to just ride the bus and not watch dragon boats.....so.......
blowing bubbles
It's been pretty hot in Montreal over the past couple of weeks. We've been passing a lot of time outside on our balcony blowing bubbles.
