Montreal parking style
I love it. At about 11:30 pm the guy parked on the inside came out to move his car while Ann and I watched bemusedly from our window.
Civic
Just before the second storm hit we decided to take our car in to get the hood latch fixed (a $35 piece), we ended up throwing out the old tires, getting new snow tires, new brakes along with that. Now if we could only find our car.

Navigator
A couple of weeks ago Ann wanted to go to Toronto, especially to see her grandparents. So I decided to tag along and attend some seminars and get those pesky continuing ed credits out of the way. The drive there was fine but it took us 7 and a half hours to get home (all the while dodging 5 cars pile-ups, 3 jack-knifed semis and various cars in the ditches).

double trouble
My cousin Fred and his family (Jeanette, Q and A) drove up from Boston to visit us during American Thanksgiving. LL had a blast with his cousins during the 4 day visit. For some reason all our pictures of A are blurry. Thanks again for the visit!
LL's movie house
Q, A and LL set up a pretend movie house complete with theatre seating and blankets, so we helped out by making some real popcorn.
Q and the mound of meat
Forgot to mention to Fred the huge portions at Arahova (Greek restaurant).... Q ate about two french fries from this plate....the rest we had for sandwiches the next day.
from the outside
Went to the Biodome and got a backstage tour from a friend that we met at Alison's during the summer. We got to go right up to the penguins (in the middle of the picture behind the "cliffs") and feed the penguins fish, but we had to be quiet because the area was mic'd for all the outsiders to hear! We were pretty quiet until Q fell back and hit his head on the doorknob.

metro
This morning we decided to take LL down to the Santa Claus parade at the last minute. Our bus driver had to ad lib a route down town so we ended up taking the metro too. LL points out the metro everytime we pass by a sign.
prime seats
This was us watching a scene between some parents who were arguing and shoving while some kid was laying on the ground crying. Nothing like a Christmas tussle to start the holidays. LL sat on my shoulders the whole time- 50 minutes of this is harder than it looks.
ready to go home
We didn't wait around for the Big Guy since LL was hungry and tired, which was OK by us, no fighting the crowds on transit on the way home.
When we asked LL his favorite part of the parade- he said taking the subway and bus was the best part. Or course.

LL & Chloe
Perfect Halloween - 17° C today! LL and Chloe went to some of the neighbours' doors and then down Waverly for the usual madness. LL was happy to see a couple of firetrucks making their way down the street giving out candy. Bumped into lots of friends from the neighbourhood. Capped it off with some apple pie.

James
After 3 facelifts, James is ready to roll for the big night.
An early version had an anatomically correct engine/boiler until I realized LL couldn't navigate stairs too well. So I gave him a bit of a nose reduction job. Once that was done, Ann decided to use James' face for field goal practice (I am guessing in retribution for the infamous 'hockey-ball-through-newly-painted-wall' incident). Now I just have to get LL to pose with this thing on...

Yo! Over Here!
When I played basketball in highschool I had the pleasure of ridiculing my teammates (who shall remain *ahem-Richard* unamed) for shooting on our own basket in a game situation- not once, mind you, but TWICE. I'm now experiencing dejavu as I track my amazon package of books as they travel from Mississauga to Edmonton.

Busted
I've been outed. Ever since LL was born we've tried to give him an exemplary diet and lifestyle. So, I usually wait until LL's gone to bed before breaking out the junk food. Last week while Ann was at work and I was putting LL to sleep:
Me: Goodnight LL, have a good sleep, try and keep your diaper dry.
LL: OK.
(pause)
LL: Daddy?
Me: Yes?
LL: Where are you going?
Me: I'm going to my office to do some work.
LL: OK.
(pause)
Daddy?
Me: Yes?
LL: You're going to the office?
Me: Yes, I'll be right here in the next room.
LL: OK, but don't go (LL is now making krinkling noises followed by the munching sound of chips).

Tastetester
It has been a long time since posting and for some reason or other I barely took any photos during the past month. It always seems that the end of August (the beginning of birthday bonanza) through to Halloween (the end of the first birthday wave) passes quickly and in a blur.
Maybe I'll just spit it out: Happy birthdays (belated) to Maureen, Deanna, Cyndy, Jasmine, Anjue, Walter, myself, Leanne, Paula, Jessica, Jude, Stan, Jennifer and the 15 others I've missed. I won't even start on the anniversaries.
Congratulations to Walson and Rhonda on their new baby girl and to Tania and Tom for their baby boy.
Thanksgiving was marked by 4 dinners in a row (3 turkeys)- thanks again to Ali, S + S, Elizabeth (auntie Marsha) and Hypatia and Max. LL has recently started his music and , get this, yoga classes at garderie. He is, by the way, up and walking again. His question of the week appears to be "Qui a peté?"
On top of the trips to Ottawa, hospital visits, birthdays, funerals, anniversaries, turkeys, births, yoga lessons, apple picking, work, ball hockey and general hanging out with LL, there is now (inevitably) FACEBOOK. Now I know why blogging activity has generally stopped for everyone else- I have found you and your double lives.

mississippi
This year my birthday was overshadowed by the tragic death of Ann's aunt in Mississippi. Ann went down with the rest of her family and most of her cousins to attend the funeral. I stayed back in Montreal with LL for 4 or 5 days. This picture (taken by J, I believe) was taken along the banks of the Mississippi. (L to R: cousins Tia, Karen, Janet, brother Holden and Ann). My heartfelt condolences to Jimmy, Judy and the Chow family.
Beaver Lake
Also taken about a month ago while it was still warm (enough) out- we headed up to Mount Royal and ended up stuck by the edge of the pond watching fish.
Return of the James
Toxic James came home about a month ago with a new paint job and brought a couple of his buddies from China (free gift). I wonder what happened to people who returned more than one train.... do they get multiple free gifts? Maybe cousin Jakie can shed some light on this.

toxic synovitis
LL woke up from his Sunday afternoon nap unable to walk. So Monday I took him to see his paediatrician who then suggested I take him to Children's Emerg to get X-rays. He figured LL had toxic synovitis (which is also what my dad and Jasmine figured). After several hours waiting at Emerg, Ann called and suggested we give it another day. Anyways, today is Wednesday and he is back at garderie (though with still a bit of a limp). Anyways, sure beats the 3 days of crawling and being carried around all over the place. (Lil' dude is getting heavy.)
aruuuuugula
This picture (under a mix of flourescent and incandescent lights) doesn't really do it justice, but all the same it was delicious!
spiral tunnel
Upon returning from Canmore a few weeks ago, LL drew this picture of Spiral Tunnel which he saw with Ann and my parents. Obviously it made quite an impression to see 200+ train cars sprialling through.

grandparents
Ann took LL out west for a couple of weeks in August while I stayed home to do some work. First week was in Medicine Hat and then a week in Canmore with my parents.... no photos from Canmore until my parents figure out how to burn them onto a CD.
