The people we swapped houses with had a friend who captained a sightseeing boat around Manhattan- so they got us on a 3 hour ride for free. It was a good way to get a feel of where the various neighbourhoods and boroughs were in relation to Manhattan. A good way to kill off a few more rainy hours too.

What do you mean, swapped houses with? Are you part of that new trend where people stay in other people's homes instead of hotels etc? I guess I have a trust issue (and no house to trade!)
